Are available in Drop Forged Carbon Steel, Self-Colored (available galvanized) manufactured in accordance with ASTM F1145, Type 1, Grade 1, Class B specifications.

Turnbuckle body specimens conform to the physical requirements of ASTM F1145. They are also available in Drop Forged 316 Stainless Steel, Self-Colored (Passivated and Electropolished at additional cost) manufactured in accordance with ASTM A182, Grade F316.

Turnbuckles are a metal coupling device consisting of an oblong piece internally threaded at both ends into which the corresponding sections of two threaded rods are screwed in order to form a unit that can be adjusted for tension or length. They were used in the railroad industry for adjustment to keep the railcars from buckling under the sudden stops and starts. Sizes carried in stock include:

• 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8”, 3/4", 7/8”
• 1”, 1-1/8”, 1-1/4”, 1-3/8”, 1-1/2”, 1-5/8”, 1-3/4”, 1-7/8”
• 2”, 2-1/4”, 2-3/8”, and 2-1/2” tapped UNC-2B (Blanks available).

Galvanized Turnbuckle Bodies are tapped oversized UNC-2B 5/16”-7/8” +.021 Thous. / 1” – 2-1/2" +.031 Thous.

Turnbuckle Fittings include Stubs in Mild Carbon Steel (available galvanized) sizes carried in stock include:

• 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8”, 3/4", 7/8”
• 1”, 1-1/8”, 1-1/4”, 1-3/8”, 1-1/2”, 1-5/8”, 1-3/4”, 1-7/8”
• 2”, 2-1/4”, 2-3/8” and 2-1/2” threaded UNC-2A with Right Hand or Left Hand Threads (UNC-2A threading before galvanizing).

Stubs are also available in 316 Stainless Steel sizes carried in stock include:

Eyes are Drop Forged Carbon Steel (available galvanized) sizes carried in stock include 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8”, 3/4" and 1” threaded UNC-2A with Right Hand or Left Hand Threads (UNC-2A threading before galvanizing).
